Check your CMIF file

The CMIF Check service, available online, allows CMIF creators and data providers to have their CMIF file examine automatically in advance. The automated check consists of three parts:

  1. Validation against the TEI Correspondence SIG's Relax NG schema for CMIF.
  2. Validation against the Schematron that complements the RNG schema
  3. Check, wether the feature classes of the GeoNames URIs are correct (usually "P - City, Village ...").
Point 3 is a common error, which leads to different GeoNames-URIs for one location in the correspSearch database.

The CMIF file to be checked can be uploaded or passed via URL:

After checking by CMIF Check, the file can also be checked by visual inspection in CMIF Preview. This is possible directly from CMIF Check via the button in the upper right corner.
